Comments about American Standard Deep Soak Drain:

We installed the Deep Soak Drain. It really does work as far as allowing the water to rise for a deeper soak. Our only issue is with the pop up stopper. When it is in the down position is does allow some water to escape down the drain. From the time the tub is full until you undress and get in it is a noticable difference of about 1/8 inch of water. I have heard other good reports about this item and that is why I purchased it. It just seems mine has a slight seal problem. All in all I still like it and do not regret installing it.

Comments about American Standard Deep Soak Drain:

I was really happy with this product until the plastic push stopper top broke and I have been unable to find a replacement or a satisfactory substitute. The threaded female part under the cap itself cracked and the top fell off. I would not recommend this product until replacement parts become more readily available.

            • Q:

I just had Deep Soak drain installed. The toe tap drain does not seal. the toe tap drain functions properly (pops up and down with taps) but the single rubber seal (just under the chrome drain that you actually tap) does not make contact to produce a seal. Is there a second larger rubber seal that should have been in my Deep Soak drain kit? After spending this much money on the Deep Soak Drain I would hate to have to go out and buy a plug to be able to take a bath...Thanks for your assistance

I have an A/S drain and overflow pipe on my tub. I am trying to remove the overflow cover. It turns about 1/4 turn counter clockwise. It seems that it pulls off from there. I don't want to pry it too hard for fear of breaking it. Will it pop off or does it screw off?

                A:

The overflow cap would just pop off and then once you removed that part, there will be screws through the overflow holder that you will need to remove. I hope this helps, if not please contact customer servie, and if you can provide an email address, we can email you a parts break down. You can contact customer service at 1-800-442-1902.

            • Q:

Can the Deep Soak Drain (Model 1640.305) be used with the Stratford 2470.002 (no whirlpool)? The Startford tub height is 20" but the water depth is 14" so this seems like a good way to increase the water depth.

              Thanks!

            • Q:

How do you install this? In the wet wall? over the tub? And does this install with the universal drain or instead of? (because in the heritage tub instructions it says both are required: is that a mistake? shouldn't it be one or the other?)

Can this drain be used with the Studio Airtubs? In the catalog at my vendor's showroom it says it must be used with a standard drain. I would prefer the Deep soak if possible.

                A:

A deep soak drain is not recommended for use on whirlpool or air bath tubs. These tubs require the use of the 1583 Universal tub drain.
