    My shower enclosure is approx 30 x 51 - can this be made that size and can this product be installed in a currently tiled shower without retiling the walls if they are in great condition?

      A:

      Hi Mary,

      The Acrylux shower bases can be installed in a shower with existing tile walls. To do this, the bottom few rows of tile must be removed to reveal the wall studs. Then the base can be installed as normal. Finally, wall board is replaced in the openings between the shower base and tile, and new tile is installed for a seamless look. If you have matching tile you can use that, but many people who can't find matching tile will use an accept tile that looks good with their existing tile.

      But one constraint is that the opening must be the right size for the shower base. The closest Acrylux base we have to that size is 48" x 34". With a little carpentry, and depending on the bathroom layout, you can shorten the width of your alcove to the required 48", and build-up the depth to the required 34". Typically you would not be able to salvage the existing tile in an installation like this, but you may be able to save up to two walls of your shower alcove and only have to tile the third wall.
