      followed installation instructions however, there is space between handle escutcheon and tile. Is there a fix for this such as a shorter adapter (617852-0070a)?

        We do not have a shorter adapter, it sounds like the unit was not roughed in deep enough in to the wall.

        A grid drain is just a standard drain, its only purpose is to catch any debris that is dropped in the sink, it does not hold water.
