  • Q:

Is it possible to remove the word "Standard" from the drain button on the model 2417 centerset faucet without damaging the porcelain? Guess it's good advertising for the company, but I have a bias against wearing logos or exhibiting them in my home. I could order from another company that makes a similar faucet with a white button on the drain assembly, but I like the American Standard model better.

    Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't know of a way to remove the name without damaging the porcelain. It would void the warranty.

The cartridge needs to be removed, you can use an adjustable wrench to remove the cartridge.

  • Q:

My Centerset Bathroom Faucet has developed a rapid drip leak on the cold(right)side and I need to know how to remove the mechanism to replace the washer(?) without damaging the
entire mechanism or stripping it. I tried a large expandable plyers on the notched section and got no movement. Is a specific tool necessary?

      A:

You will need to remove the index cap to remove the screws that are holding the handles on, if there is water corrison then you can use WD-40 to loosen the handle for removal.

  • Q:

How do I remove the index button (Model 2471) of a bathroom sink faucet? I need to tighten the handle as it now wobbles. Also, I may need to access the cartridge sometime in the future. I do not want to damage the appearance of the faucet. Does the index button pop off? Does it unscrew? Do I need a special tool?

      A:

The index buttons are simply pressed into place. using a plastic knife or other thin object can be used to lift them off the handle.
