Comments about American Standard Town Square Widespread Bathroom Faucet:

This is a great looking very modern, easy to clean, faucet with many great matching accessories. However it has a critical flaw. The hot and cold handles can be easily stripped out by putting too much pressure on it past fully closed or fully open. An internal part that should not be made of plastic, (The Handle Adapter: Part #M198025-0070A, will loose it's threading and allow the handle to free wheel no longer turning the water on or off if it is overstressed. The part is difficult to order as it is not searchable. It can only be seen in the exploded view diagrams and can only be ordered by calling customer service.

When We run hot water for extended period of time, condensation builds up under chrome housing under handle. It's not a leak, as I ran tap for 5 minutes without housing on it and was bone dry. Seems to build up humidity for some reason inside and eventually leaks out. Any solutions?

We are trying to match the facet in our 1930's bathroom. The square line of this is the closest match we have seen so far. Our original faucet had flat metal cross handles as opposed to the lever ones. Do you have anything that would work with this faucet that may match our original cross handles?

      thanks

    • Q:

what two handled tub/shower faucet would you recommend to go with this bathroom faucet and pedestal sink?
Asked on 11/3/2010 by Anonymous from louisville, ky

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Unfortunately, we don't have a matching 2-handle tub/shower for this family. We prefer to recommend a pressure balance bath/shower in its place: T555.502. In most areas, 2-handle bath/showers do not meet code and have not antiscald protection, meaning if someone flushes the toilet while you are taking a shower, you could get scalded by hot water due to the drop in cold water pressure. A pressure balancing shower compensates for this action and the water temperature in the shower would remain the same.

        A:

a minimum of 1-1/2" should be allowed for proper installation and function of the faucet.
