    • Q:

My tub is resting in place and seems to fit perfectly--it looks really good. From the drawings it looked like I would need about 1 inch of supporting mortar. I bought extra of the cement I'm going to be using to put the tiles on both the wall and floor and was going to use that. But looking at it in place, with the side apron on the floor, it is 3 to 5 inches from the rough floor to the bottom of the tub. Do I raise the floor under this part of the bottom and then use the tile glue that I bought? Do you recommend something else? What should the underlying mortar be? If there is 4 inches of it, I'm going to need some sort of form to hold it as it sets?

        A:

It should be 2" to 3" off of the floor at the lumbar end and 1'" to 2" at the drain end. It will take about two 80 pound bags. Mix it to peanut butter consistency. Put it on the floor the length and with of the tub and rock the bottom of the tub into it until the deck of the tub rests on the stringers. Do not put any weight in the tub until the mortar cures.

        A:

We do not picture the profile on any of our tubs. All of our tubs have between 34 & 36 degrees of lumbar slope from vertical. Thank you.

    • Q:

Can you install this tub without using motar, just place it on the stingers? There will only be about one inch from the floor to the bottom of the tub.

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

No, you must use mortar, this is what supports the bottom of the tub, installing without will void the warranty.
