Comments about American Standard Princeton Integral Drain Bath with Apron:

We love our Princeton Tub! We installed it on our kid's bathroom for the kid-friendly features. The Americast makes it roomier for fun bath times for kids, plus the Americast materials keep the bath water warmer for a long time compared to cast iron. My kids love to stay in the tub for a hour now because it is so warm. Plus the slip resistant surface is great for kids (and adults)! We love it!

    • Q:

Is Structo-Lite an acceptable bedding material to be used with the Princeton tub Model 2390?
Asked on 3/26/2012 by Herb from NY

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Yes, you can use Structo-Lite for bedding material on this tub.

    • Q:

I have been told that the Leveling Support Stringer must be the entire length of the back of the tub, if not, the tub will not be secure and will end up moving. What is the purpose of applying a bead of silicone caulk to the top of this stringer before installing tub? Is there also caulk between the back of the stringer and the face of the stud as it seems to appear in the diagram in the Insatallation Instructions.
Asked on 3/9/2012 by Herb from NY

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

The purpose of the caulk is to act as an insulator between the stringer and the tub. In the event the tub was not secured as per the installation instructions and there was movement, this would prevent any noise from being experienced.

        Answered on 3/10/2012 by Anonymous
    • Q:

My concern is water pooling on the tub ledges against the walls. If the tub is installed perfectly level is there some slope from the ledges so water drains into the tub? I know there is slope inside the tub towards the drain.

Also, why do the instructions specify caulk along the leveling support stringer? And is it necessary that this stringer run the full length rather than possibly the middle 75% of the length?
Asked on 3/9/2012 by Herb from NY

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

There is a slope around the tubs flanges, so the water would not puddle. Also, the stringer MUST the entire length of the back of the tub, if not, the tub will not be secure and will end up moving.

    • Q:

Should the Princeton 2390.202 be install perfectly level? My plumber wants to slope it slightly toward the drain.
Asked on 3/8/2012 by Herb from NY

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Yes, it needs to be leveled the tub basin is sloped already so the water drains properly. If the tub is not perfectly level it could cause the tub to creek.

    • Q:

The term "integral drain" means that there is no need for a separate overflow pipe conencting to the tub drain and it is part of the tub. Is this correct? Thanks!
      Asked on 3/7/2012 by Anonymous

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Yes, you are correct it is already bolted into the tub.

    • Q:

I am looking for a tub similar to the Princeton Model but want one which is deeper than 14 inches. Which model have a depth of more than the standard 14 inches? Tub is 30" x 60" - surrouded by three walls.
Asked on 2/17/2012 by Anonymous from Atlana,GA

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

The 5'X30"x14" is the overall outside dimensions. if you are looking for a tub with a deeper water depth, please consider a Princeton tub with a deep soak drain that will give you 2 additional inches of water depth and can be used with the Princeton tubs that do not have an intergal drain such as model #2395.202 or 2393.202

    • Q:

Can the Americast Princeton be ordered without the slip resistant surface? Within the past year a friend installed a bathtub with a slip resistant surface and said that the surface collects dirt that is not easily removed.
Asked on 2/14/2012 by Anonymous from St. Louis, Missouri

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

All of our tubs are required to have the slip resistance feature as a safety feature, it can not be ordered without it.

    • Q:

The rough in for the princetone 2390.202ICH calls for a 9" wide x 12" long coutout for drain pipes. However, my floor joists below the tub area allow for only a 6" wide clearance. Is this acceptable or will it be a problem? There was a tub previously in this spot and the plumbing fit fine.
Asked on 1/4/2012 by Joe from Long Island

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

This should work but you should check with a plumber first we are not plumbers here but looking over the spec sheet it should not be a problem.

    • Q:

Can a lever-type drain stopper be installed in this tub? If so, how does one get the factory installed plate off to put the lever in that location?
      Asked on 12/27/2011 by Anonymous

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

No, this tub has an integral drain that will not allow the fit of a normal lever style drain.

    • Q:

The overflow drain that was installed with my tub by my plumber has no holes in it coming into the tub. I believe that it takes a snap overflow plate. The tub is a 2390.202.020 tub. Is that correct? After contacting customer service they sent me an overflow plate with 2 holes. Should the tub take a snap over flow plate? Do you have a part number (is the snap on plate usually included with the tub?)
Asked on 12/10/2011 by Anonymous from Ashburn, Va

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

We have a couple drain assemblies that have a retaining plate, that would use screws, and then an overflow plate that snaps into place. The tub itself would not have came with a drain, and there would be several drains that you could have used, it doesn't necessarily even have to be AS. Please contact customer service at 1-800-442-1902, one of the representatives will provide you with an email to send a picture of the overflow to so that we can properly identify it.
