    My 2 year old Spectra Cast Iron Tub is all stained. I just read how to clean and the only caution was to not use scouring cleaners; which I do not use. Can you help me diagnose the problem and suggest how to remove the stains.

      A:

      We recommend hot soapy water and liquid dishwashing detergents (such as Palmolive, Dawn), Liquid Tide, and Granular Spic and Span. BonAmi, Pfaltzgraff Cleaner, and Gel Gloss are excellent cleaner/polishers and can be used liberally and as often as necessary. Please DO NOT use abrasive products (i.e. Brillo, Ajax, Comet, Soft Scrub, scouring pads, etc) or anything containing Sodium Hypochlorite or Hydrofluoric Acid, as they can etch the surface. Please make sure to apply all cleaning products with a soft cloth or sponge.

      If you have any further questions or concerns please let us know.   • Q:

    I understand the slip-resistant surfaces (those with a sandy feel) are difficult to keep clean. Is this what is used on the Spectra tub? If so, is it possible to order one without that surface? I prefer to use a mat in the tub.

      Unfortunately all of our tubs have the slip resistant bottom. You can not order a tub with out the slip resistance.

      Hello,

      We do not offer any panels for the ends of this tub. If you're considering installing this tub in a corner with two open sides, we find that many people will do this by building a small "pony" wall at the end of the tub. This is a short wall, usually just a few inches taller than the tub, that conceals the end of the tub and also ensures that any splashed water goes back into the tub.

      With a standard drain the soaking depth is 11". With our Deep Soak Bathtub Drain, 1640.305, the soaking depth is 13.2".

      A:

      We recommend the following cleaning and care instructions for the slip resistant surface bottom: Use powdered Bon Ami, Spic 'N Spam, didi seven or ZUD for best results on stubborn stains on the surface. Wet tub surface;
      2. Sprinkle powdered cleaner onto a wet sponge;
      3. Apply to the stain;
      4. Rinse with water.

      DO NOT use any type of scouring pad or abrasive cleansers on the surface and bathtub for example 3m cleaning pads, Comet, Brillo.
