Comments about American Standard Colony Soft Single Control Kitchen Faucet:

This faucet replaced our original sink faucet about 4 years ago. In that time we had to get new seal rings to stop the leak. The leak came around the top by the base of the cartridge area. Now within a year from replacing the two seals, we have leaks under the sink. Difficult to undo the handle since the allen key would slip (used a new key).

Called customer service. They are sending me a handle replacement with the cartridge. I have to drill the allen screw out and then put the new handle. I hope I am successful.

I must add here that the customer service is very helpful and listen to the problem. The instructions were very clear on how to do the replacement. Much appreciated.

    How do I free up the spout to turn left and right easily. It's almost frozen tight and only turns with a lot of force, causing the copper tubing to loosen and leak at water valves under the sink.

      You will need to remove the on/off handle and loosen the screws on the cartridge, it sounds like the screws on the cartridge are to tight.

  • Q:

    I recently purchased and installed this. It is leaking at the base - what is causing this and how do I fix it. I thought it was just running out into the sink but the water is also building up and leaking below. This is brand new and shouldn't be happening. Is there an easy fix to this?

      It sounds like something is wrong with the spout seal kit. You can either contact customer service at 1-800-442-1902 and they will help diagnose the problem and send replacement parts, or you can return it to the store.

    I have this same faucet and was wondering if you could tell me why the water from the faucet used to shut off completely when I used the hand sprayer and now when I use the hand sprayer, the faucet and sprayer are flowing together, simultaneously. I have checked all the connections under the sink, nothing is leaking or appears to be a red flag. I am sure this is a common problem for many faucets, but I was wondering if you could tell me why this is happening and how I could fix it myself. Thanks kindly!
