    My Americast Silhouette 33" Double Bowl Sink has lost it finish and has many scratch is there a stainless steel sink that would be an exact fit.

    I do want to say that I would never buy a Americast Sink again, the sink is no more than five years old and was used normally and it looks horrorable.

    Our Silhouette sink was purchased/installed in 1996, and now shows severe 'rusting' around the sealant/calking. I'm sure it's the caulking degrading, but my daughter has the same sink, the same problem, but her sink has deformed enormously! It has raised up and 'buckled'!!!Can this be caused by inferior or improper sealant installation? Or, can this be a Americast problem?

    I am replacing my kitchen sink as well as my counters. I currently have the silhouette double sink in black and would like to put in a stainless sink. I love the size and shape of this sink and would like to find something similar in stainless. Since I am replacing countertops exact size doesn't matter. What would you recommend as the closest replacement in terms of bowl size and shape?

      Cast iron can withstand more than Americast. Cast iron is a stronger heavier matieral.

      I have this sink and I haven't had any problems with chipping, but it scratches easily. I wouldn't buy this sink again--I would get stainless steel, it's just more durable. It really is a shame that American Standard doesn't make an undermount sink replacement for this sink because I bet there are a lot of people like me who want to throw out their current Silhouette.

      Although the sink dimensions are the same, the faucet hole locations differ. This will prevent the proper installation of the sink into the existing opening.

      Sorry, no. The cutout for the 7196 is 36-1/4" (left to right) x 20-3/4" (front to back) while the American Standard Culinaire double bowl stainless steel sinks have an approximate cutout of 30-3/4" x 18" or 21" (depending on model) and is contoured to the shape of the bowl. The cutout opening width (left to right) of the 7196 is too large to accommodate our undermounted stainless steel sinks.
