Comments about American Standard Silhouette Single Bowl Kitchen Sink:

I purchased this sink several years ago, for a laundry room project that I am finally getting to. When I saw the sink in the store, It seemed perfect for the application that I had in mind. Our new laundry room is directly off of the kitchen, and when I'm finished will have matching cabinets and countertops. The washer connects directly to the drain line (not into a traditional wash basin). The room is compact, but very efficient, so this small but deep sink seems perfect for rinsing clothes or light utility uses. But after reading all of the negative reviews about scratching, Now I'm wondering if I should sell it on line and find something more durable and long lasting. I would like to see an aftermarket polish / cleaner available!

Comments about American Standard Silhouette Single Bowl Kitchen Sink:

I think the depth, size and basic design of the sink is good. I'm very unhappy with how easy it scratches and is not easily cleaned. I've only had the sink a few months and I wish now that I would've gone with the cast iron/enamel sink instead of this one. In the long run this sink will have to be replaced sooner than later because the finish is not resilient. I don't feel I really got my monies worth.

Comments about American Standard Silhouette Single Bowl Kitchen Sink:

I'll ditto the previous review: it's an absolutely beautiful sink, the design is just perfect - deep, compact, yet completely user-friendly - up until the point that you want to polish it...nothing has worked so far, although I'm here requesting help. I keep a mat on the bottom and that obscures the dulled finish on the bottom of my black sink, but I sure wish they'd come up with something to restore the shine. Now that I know it's been discontinued, it's an even great concern. It is a beautiful sink, though.

This sink has a wonderful design and adds a real modern look and feel complimentating my granite countertops. HOWEVER!!!American Standard discontinued making this design and because it scratches so easily, I will have an extremely difficult time replacing it.

      • Q:

I see that the 7172 model is dicontinued, and that others have the same issue with the lack of durability. What is American Standard offering to fix this issue. The non-standard shape, cut in a very expensive piece of granite leaves me in a difficult postiion.

I have the white version of this sink with the drain off-set to the left. The bottom has become dull with use which tends to hold stains easily. Otherwise, the sink is in good shape.

Is there any way to re-coat the white sink while it is in place? Thanks in advance.

      • Q:

I have this sink in an undermount under granite that was cut in this odd shape to accomodate the sink. The sink is badly scratched and chipped (did not hold up well at all). Do you carry this same shape in a stainless steel sink or something else. It would be a shame if I need to recut the granite.
        Thanks for your help.
