This toilet is for the main bathroom in the house. It abuts the bedroom. When flushed, the toilet makes a loud thunk noise and disturbs the person sleeping in the next room. Within a few weeks of installation the bowl exposed a large chip out of the bottom of the bowl.
Thanks to customer service they shipped me a new bowl free of charge.

Comments about American Standard Champion 4 Right Height Elongated Toilet:

I replaced our 25 year old American Standard toilets 3 years ago, and because I am a plumber and worked on all types of toilets for the past 30 plus years and found that these toilets (Champion 4)are the best flushing and maintenance free toilet I have worked with.(Only problem with maintenance free is they are bad for my buisness, no call backs or repairs). I just put a new addition on my house and I have already bought the same toilet to put in the new bathroom (Champion 4 elongated toilet right hieght). The first champion 4 toilets had a little problem the flush valves, but they have fixed this and I have not had any sevice call's or problems with the new designed flush valves.

            • Q:

This toilet has a reputation for an excellent flushing action. I want the same flushing action but with a rim height closer to 19". Is the Champion 4 flushing action available with a rim height of around 19"?
Asked on 4/18/2012 by Anonymous from sanbornton, NH

              5 answers

              • A:

The rim height of the toilet is 16-1/2" which meets the Americans With Disabilities Act guidelines and ANSI A117.1 requirements. If you truly need or desire 19" and want to go with this toilet, best thing to do would be to add a handicapped raised toilet seat. A raised seat is about 3" thick and would bring the height up to the 19" you desire. Another, more expensive option if you are remodeling the bathroom, would be to create a platform by raising the bathroom floor around the area where the toilet will go, however this will require adjusting all plubming fittings, as well. (Much cheaper to get the thicker/higher toilet seat.

NO....The height of the tall ones are about 16 1/2" they don't make them 19" you will have to get a high seat to put on it to make it that high.Like a medical seat.

No it comes in standard height or comfort height, about 2 inches higher, (about 16.5") but nowhere near 19".

Hello, what is the diameter of the flapper in this toilet? Is it a two or three incher?

I understand from my plumber that, in general, the newer three inch flappers often need to be flushed twice.

            • Q:

This Champion 4 toilet is an excellent product that is somewhat diminished by an odd-fitting and cheap-looking silver plastic trip lever. I would like to replace this shiny silver plastic trip handle with something more suitable. So, other than the plastic trip lever that comes with this toilet, what other METAL American Standard trip levers can be used with this toilet. I believe the tank number is 4266.014. In addition to metal trip levers, the hard plastic white trip levers that are used on the Cadet toilets would also be an acceptable alternative. Please include the model numbers of any compatible metal or hard white plastic trip levers that would work with this tank. Thank you for your attention to this request.

I just had the Cadet 3 #2386 installed. I chose this one on a plumbers recommendation. Now I have had several people tell me that I should have bought the Champion 4 instead. Is there that big of a difference between the two? I need to know ASAP before I proceed further with my bathroom remodel. Thankyou.

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

The difference is that the Cadet 3 has a 3" flush valve where the Champion 4 has the 4" flush valve and a more powerful flush. They are both good toilets so it is according to whether you would prefere the more powerful flush.

You can shorten the chain on the flapper so that the flapper will stay up longer.

We purchased 3 Champion 4 toilets in 2009 and now all three have the same problem in which the tanks refill intermittently (water runs a few moments until the float stops the water).

We have replaced the entire float / water supply assembly on one toilet to see if that did the trick and no luck. What are we missing to solve this and could it be covered under warranty?

If you have not tried changing the flush valve seals, this may be the source of the problem. Please contact us at 1-800-442-1902 options 1-4-2

This almost sounds too simple but if you have the Floatmaster 400 (which came with my toilet) it should be as simple as turning the screw (I think counter clockwise) to raise the shut off point of the float since you said "until the float stops the water".
