Comments about American Standard Cadet 3 FloWise Round Front Toilet:

I bought this toilet to replace 20 year old toilet that had begun to leak. What attacted me to this particular model is its low water requirements and straightforward design, which fits into the look of my 100-year-old house. The toilet has been perfect: went in easily (installed by a professional plumber), performs perfectly. Best features are the low water use and that the flush is quiet. The surface of the bowl stays clean for a long time; I clean it carefully so as not to damage the surface. This toilet has one flush, so the review of a two-flush type toilet is not for this model. My household water usage has decreased with this toilet. Very sastisfied, would highly recommend.

You can pay more money for so called better toilets, but why? Cadet 3 toilets can do the same job or better in some cases, than the high dollar toilets, like kohler. Very easy to install, I did mine in 25 mins.. Some pizza outfits can't even deliver in that time....Ha, Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about American Standard Cadet 3 FloWise Round Front Toilet:

I used this to replace an old builder's toilet that always clogged and had tons of nooks and crannies that made it hard to clean. This toilet was a nice surprise. After more than a year it has never clogged, it is really easy to clean, and it wasn't very expensive. I'd recommend this. The only downside to it is that the tank does move a little on the rubber gasket, making it feel a little less sturdy than it probably is. An extra bold to attach it in a triangle configuration would probably have taken care of this.

You will need to shorten the chain on the flapper so that it does not close as quickly.

We just purchased and installed the Cadet 3 in our home. Every hour or so it sounds as though it is adding water to the tank. We have not seen noticed any leaks into the bowl.

You will need to perform the dye test, put some food coloring in the tank and let it sit for a few hours, if the dye is in the bowl then you will need a new flapper.

You should be fine. Mine was 11 1'2" from bolt to wall and I had almost 3" to spare at the base and exactly 1" from the wall to tank.

You generally can not go up in rough inches you would need a 10" rough however if you want a 12" rough in toilet we suggest that you dry rough in the toiket to be sure you will have enough room between the tank and the wall.

                • Q:

I bought a new cadet 3 2800.500st and installed it. Leaked from the bowl to tank connection. Called the AS rep and they said loosen of the tank mounting bolts and then retighten going 1/4" turn on each side. Did that and then the tank cracked. Bought same one, noticed a defect in the original bowl but still have the same problem of a leak between the bowl and tank connection on the new one. The instructions seem simple, I've watched videos, the toilet is level, bought a new supply line. Afraid to tighten the bolts to much again and break the tank. Any suggestions? Is it normal to have some water between the tank and bowl? I stick a peice of toilet paper in the back and there is always water being absorbed. Can I use a silicone on the bowl to tank gasket?

                    A:

No there should be no water between the tank and the bowl. The tank is meant to fit securely onto the bowl. The tank to bowl gasket, which is very thick, gives the impression that the tank cannot fit further down onto the bowl. If the tank was placed onto the back of the bowl, without the gasket between them, and they can be placed flush together, then that is the optimum placement for the connection. When the gasket is between them, you will have a slight difference in placement, but the tank should sit in the same position.

The best way to install the tank is to place the tank directly over the bolt holes to see how the tank will fit onto the bowl. This is not a necessary step but may help inexperienced installers. Be careful not to slam the tank down or the china may crack. After seeing how to place the tank, pull the tank off, put the gasket on the bottom of the tank, and then reapply the tank as you did before. Have a helper gently shift the tank down and back so that it stays in position. Keep tightening the bolts by hand, a little on each side, until you cannot tighten any more. Then use a wrench or deep socket wrench to tighten each side 1/4 turn until the tank meets the bowl. The tank should never rock or be loose. If it is, it is not tightened down properly, and you may have to remove the tank and try starting the process over. If you are concerned that you may break the tank, wait a week for the gasket to flatten out and retighten another 1/4 turn each side until snug. Do not over-tighten the bolts or the tank will crack under the pressure.

The 2852.128.021 is a 2 piece combination in Bone where the tank, bowl and seat are ordered seperately. The 2880.128NT.020 is a Complete toilet in White that includes the tank, bowl and seat.

I am sorry but we no longer carry blue colored toilets. I would recommend updating the room with a white toilet.

                    A:

The 2829.128 Cadet3 FlowWise Round Front toilet uses a 1.28 gpf flush and a 12 inch rough-in per the spec sheet diagram. The 2830.128 is the same configuration except it uses a 10 inch rough-in. If you're not sure which one you need, measure the distance from your wall to your toilet mounting location in the floor.

                    A:

The #1 wax ring is the correct one. If the one you are trying to install is not working properly, please make sure that your flange is flush with the floor.
