Comments about American Standard FloWise Transitional 3-Function Water Saving Shower:

One of the things I've noticed when using a low-flow shower head is that it takes longer to rinse off. So while we feel good about saving the environment by using an low-flow head, are we really saving much water if we end up spending more time showering?

Since our city charges a water use fee it is economical to not use more water than necessary. Plus it's environmentally friendly. We bought this shower head to replace an ultra-low flow head that used < 1.5GPM. But the old head used so little water that it took a long time for the shower to warm up and even longer to shower and rinse off. So we decided to go with an adjustable head like this one.

What I like about this shower head is I can adjust the flow turning it up to rinse off fast (especially when I'm in a hurry). When I want to just soak for a while, the lowest (1.5 GPM) setting allows me to do so with minimal water usage. The lowest setting uses the turbine and feels nice like a warm rain shower. The middle setting is a nice combination of jet sprays and turbine drops. The highest setting is great for when you're in a hurry and want to get in and out fast. The jet spray feels nice but not like some other showers that feel like laser beams. Even in the lowest setting we noticed we could shower faster than with our old shower head.

Having it automatically return to the lowest setting makes sense to automatically put it in the most economical setting. Without this feature I'd probably set it at the middle setting and leave it there. Now I have to conciously turn up the setting, knowing I'm using more water so I sould spend less time in the shower.

The only con I can see is that the head is extra large. The diameter of the head is much larger than necessary.

We've had this showerhead over a year now and we're happy with it. We recommend it to anyone who wants to save water but have the option to turn up the flow when you're in a hurry or just want to rinse off quickly.

Install very easily. First put it in a small shower only stall, Not really efficient in the small space. Second I install it in the bathtub, Work great there and had alot of room to move around. Like the second position best.

do you make a showerhead with water temperature control. One that can balance the hot/cold water when flushing a toilet. Thanks

you need a pressure balane or thermostic mixing valve. All american standard shower valves will be one or other and prevent scalding.

We bought this shower head through Amazon. My husband says the threads are backwards as he cannot screw it on. Is this possible? I guess I should exchange it right? Unless our shower pipe is backwards, but we've had no problem with other shower heads before this one.

This shower head has normal threads and should screw on exactly like your old one. I would suggest either a return or to call American Standard directly and we can send you a replacement.

You can remove the showerhead and let it soak in white vinegar. This will remove the debris that has collected.

I am looking for a showerhead in which I can control the flow. Its become obvious that in my 'current' apartment(for now) the water heater simply cannot keep up with a large flow. I prefer, if possible, to stay away from light-spray models. Any recommendations?

We highly recommend any of our FloWise single or 3 function showerheads. These showerheads are designed to save you up to 40% in water usage while still providing great performance in the shower. If you are looking to maximize your water savings as well as lengthen your hot water usage time, any of these options will work.

              • Q:

I bought the 3 Function showerhead and ended up returning the first one because it would start off great, but as I would continue to shower, more and more water would pore out the bottom. Then within 10 minutes or so of showering, the pressure would start to decrease in the water enough so that slowly less and less water would come out until finally it would barely even spray and was mostly a drizzle from the showerhead. At this point, none of the other flow options even work and I’m left standing in the shower with shampoo that I can’t get out. I ended up returning this first one thinking that it was broken and get a new one and it does the same thing! I want to know why this is happening because I’ve had a regular showerhead and then another brands’ low flow and I never had the problem that my water would eventually turn to a drizzle and I couldn’t even finish my shower. Can you tell me more about this?

This shower head has three settings as listed below:

                  1. The first setting is the center spray is 1.5 GPM and does spray nicely.
                  2. The second setting is 2.0 GPM which has the center spray and the outer spray.
                  3. The third settings is 2.0 GPM and sprays the outer ring only. This setting really penetrates the scalp.

Additionally, unlike other low-flow shower heads I have used this product is silent.
