Comments about American Standard Mainstream FloWise RF Complete Toilet:

This toilet came as a complete package, nothing else to buy except a tube of silicone. I used it to replace another brand that had a leaky/split tank which required a replacement floor. I bought this toilet on the reputation of AS and it's warranty. I don't want to do this job again and I am confident that I won't have to.

The Mainstream Flowise is the best choice because of its water efficiency, elegant design, and affordable price. It flushes quietly and easily, doesn't take up much space and has the advantage of its height for ease of use. It is so impressive that when its time to replace the toilet in the guest bathroom, nothing but a Mainstream Flowise will do!

Since installing I have not been able to stop the apparent small leak in the tank. I had another one of these that did not do this so am hoping I can fix it. It periodically will add a small amount of water. Otherwise works great. Good water savings. Looks nice and fits easily into a small space.

            • Q:

I just bought one of these mainstream toilets. The tank got a crack in it by the bolts. The store doesn't sell just the tank. Is there a comparable tank to the mainstream that we can get? Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

                A:

There are no other flushing systems that are designed for this toilet, btu you should not have to flush the toilet 3x's to get it to remove the waste. There are several things that can cause this. The main thing that seems to cause this is if the venting and lines are not cleared. This toilet only uses 1.28 gpf which needs very clear lines and venting in order to get a proper flush. You can contact customer service and we will assist you with trouble shooting. Customer service can be reached Monday through Saturday 8 a.m to 6 p.m est. Their telephone number is 1-800-442-1902.

If the water control is not stopping, I would clean it out as shown in the installation instructions, debris may become lodged in it. Otherwise, I would check the chain length to make sure the flapper isn't being held up slightly, also sometimes the flapper may have a rubber band around it to keep it flat during shipping, and should be removed after installation.

If the water is leaking out of the bowl, then it would indicate that the bowl may have an internal crack. It may not be flushing due to not having enough water in the bowl, to create a good flush. Please contact customer service at 1-800-442-1902, for trouble shooting and assistance with a possible warranty claim.

We just installed this toilet in the last week. After the toilet is flushed the water in the toilet bowl comes to what appears to be an acceptable level but after the tank is filled and the toilet shuts off, within seconds, the water will lower an inch (you can actually watch it.) I've also noticed that when any toilet flushes or water turned on within the house the toilet creaks. Any suggsestions or assistance would be appreciated.

I just installed one of these and the tank seems wobbly on top of the bowl. You can push it forward and back. Did I not tighten the bolts enough? I don't want to crack anything (which I once did years ago!)

                A:

The bolts are not tight enough, the tank should not move if correctly installed. Tighten down slowly alternating sides until the bowl and tank are just touching each other. This will ensure that the tank will not move after installation.

                A:

The test for the acceptable water level in the bowl is to fill the bowl slowly from a 3-gallon bucket. Once the bowl seems to reach the same water level, regardless of how much water is put into it, then it is at the normal level for that bowl. In order to increase the amount of water in the bowl you want to :

                1. Make sure that the supply line is fully open.
                2. Make sure that the refill hose is in the refill tube.
                3. Raise the Fluidmaster float cup by screwing it up about a 1/2" at a time.
                4. Flush the toilet and see if the water level rises in the bowl. You may want to take a grease pencil and mark where the original water line was before adjustments were made.
                5. If you need to, raise the level of the Fluidmaster again. You can safely raise it to 1/2" from the top of the refill tube.
                6. If you still do not have enough water in the bowl, you can pull off the refill hose from the Fluidmaster Water Control, remove the red flow restrictor, and replace the refill hose. This will cause water to fill faster into the bowl, before the tank fills up.

No. The sound is the water going through the system. If you could reduce the pressure it would slow the stream down and the noise would drop, but it would last longer. Get used to it.
