Can you tell me what the bottom bathing well length is for the Studio 60x33 or 66x36 tub? Obviously I know the overall length, but want to know how long the inside floor of the tub is for sitting in. Thanks!

  • Q:

We have installed this American Standard acrylic with fiberglass reinforcement tub (2933.202) without the optional apron kit. We have supported the front rim behind the 2" profile (against the rough fiberglass) with a 2x4 support structure. However, there is still some give at the very front rim area where the tub deck is slightly angled and the 2x4 apron frame is flat beneath it. You can see the bottom edge of the 2" profile move up and down by a 1/4" or so when pressure is applied. We would like to fill the voids with Great Stuff Gaps and Cracks for added support there. Do you know if burn through is a concern with Great Stuff? Also, is it OK to use Gaps and Cracks product for the cured rigid benefit, or would we risk bowing the tub rim? If so, we can use Windows and Doors but I believe that cures less rigid. Finally, how about the tub surround products by Liquid Nails, Laticrete, PL Premium, etc. They say no burn-through. Are they safe to use with these tubs?

  • Q:

I have ordered the model 2933 tub and do not plan to install the optional apron kit, instead I would like to construct my own tiled apron to match the build out. I am unclear how to support/ integrate the 2" front lip, should that sit on the support wall like a drop in? Or should the support wall be built to fit behind the flange and directly below the deck? I would appreciate any images or drawings that represent the proper installation of the front edge of this tub

      A:

You can support it either way. The support under the flange like a drop in is best but you can also it support along the entire front side behind the flange up under the deck against the rough fiberglass. Thank you.

  • Q:

I would like to install this tub in a three-sided alcove with an apron. By installation instructions, it looks like it is supported with ledger boards on three sides, is this correct? Do I need to install a mortar bed on the floor for bottom support?
Asked on 11/14/2011 by K from Ellicott City, MD

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The tub has two runners under the sump. As long as they are securely resting on the floor all the way down both runners no additional support is required. The support ledger boards will support three sides of the deck to keep it from flexing. Ff you purchase the optional apron panel it comes with a support frame that will support the forth deck side. If you do not use our apron make sure to support the forth deck side. Thank you.

  • Q:

for bathtub model 2933, is there an option for tile flange on three sides and zero-profile on the front?
    Asked on 5/19/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

No. When you order a Studio model 2933 with the 3-side tile flange the remaining front of the tub comes with a standard 2 inch deck. This is to help with fitting the optional 2960.100 apron on the front. Or, if you wish, you can have your installer run tile up to the deck edge. Either way, please remember to include an access opening if you are purchasing a jetted tub as this is a code requirement.
