  • Q:

I cannot figure out why my toilet has a slow leak into the bowl. The tank is an American Standard 4037. I replaced the flapper with a seamless match and ensured the water level stays 1/2-inch below the overflow tube. The leak is noticed coming from the from the front flush passage and is slight. The only reason I found it is because my water bill went up $200 this past quarter and I had to use blue leak finder tablets in the tank to even find it. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

You will need to replace the flapper on the flush valve.
We do not stock discontinued model parts, but we can recommend www.plumbingsupply.com or http://www.plumbingpartsdepot.info/, a reputable re-seller of American Standard genuine parts.

  • Q:

I need just the flapper assembly for an AS 4019-016. This is pictured but cannot purchase. Had to buy entire flush valve assembly. Am I going to have to replace the entire assembly in the future when I only need the flapper? That's a lot of hassle and more expensive

The stamped numbers in my AS toilet tank are not impressed well, but I believe the tank number is 4392, probably made in 2000. Is there a flapper and flush valve for this tank?

  • Q:

I continually have replaced 7381129-200.0070A flapper in my American Standard two piece toilet. The front of the flapper where the chain is attached becomes distorted due to the chain pull on each flush. Over time (a short period of time) this distortion allows water to seep into the bowl from the tank, thus causing at a minimum wasted water and continually becomes an expense to replace.

Why can't these be made with a small piece of reinforcement material embedded along the front of the flapper to keep this upward distortion from happening?

Please contact our customer care line at 1-800-442-1902, prompts 1 and 4 for assistance. You will need to know the model number of your toilet tank. To find the model number of the toilet, look into the tank along the back wall. Impressed, engraved or stamped into the china will be a four-digit number starting with a “2” or “4”. If you have a one piece toilet will begin with the number “2” and will be 4 digits long. If you have a two piece toilet your model number will begin with the number “4” and will be 4 digits long. Manufacturing date is located inside the tank.

  • Q:

I have a cadet toilet, with the numbers 4266 and 9734 imprinted on the inside of the tank,in 2 different locations and a flapper assembly labeled Fluidmaster 400. It has started to leak and I am thinking I will need to replace the flapper, but this assembly is different than the old flappers we bought for the old toilets. How can I replace? Is it just the top, or flapper that needs replacing?
How do I get it off?
And how can I tell what part number I need and where can I get it?
