This is a nice faucet. Unfortunately, it uses a cheep plastic transfer valve plunger that has a week point where the threaded section and the rest of the plunger connect. I would not buy again until there is an updated part.

Comments about American Standard Cadet Three-Handle Bath/Shower:

Really look at it carefully to make sure it'll fit your needs. It did not occur to me that it wouldn't fit right, until after installing it, putting up backerboard, and tiling, that it wasn't going to fit. The stems are too short for a reasonably thick wall. Make really sure that it's going to work out for the wall thickness and unit placement, or you're going to have rough times.

Comments about American Standard Cadet Three-Handle Bath/Shower:

These tub/shower faucets aren't that great. The plastic adapters keep breaking, and they are as rare as hen's teeth. We can't get them from the local [...]without buying a complete repair set of some kind. This faucet is probably best for a bathroom that isn't used very much. As it is, I'm going to completely replace the tub faucets with another, more reliable design.

Comments about American Standard Cadet Three-Handle Bath/Shower:

Ok, here's what you have to do to not have the handles turn 360 degrees. The instructions that come with the faucet nor this site tell you this.
You must disassemble the cartridges from the brass body. Remove the brass retaining ring from the valve body, pull the cartridge straight out. Now look at the other end as you hold the plastic body and turn the stem. You will see the ceramic open and close. Think about what you're seeing and how the handles work with the gray plastic stops. The light bulb will come on and you'll instantly know how to setup both cartridges for 90 degree on/off of each handle.

It would be very nice if AS would do an instruction sheet on this and post it for us.

I installed this faucet today and the knobs that control the water work fine and don't leak.
But the diverter valve only allows water to come out the spout and never the shower no matter the position of the lever.
It spins round and round with no stop in any direction and water only comes out the spout.

Is the adapter in place on the diverter valve? If you remove the handle can you turn the diverter valve stem and make the water divert that way? If not you will need to replace the diverter valve. Please contact customer service at 1-800-442-1902 and any of the reps will assist you with ordering parts.

I want to have a shower with hot, cold handles and the middle to close the water flow, so next time when I want to use it I just open de middle handle and I dont have to move the hot and cold handles.

Using the transfer valve for the purposes of temporarily pausing the flow of water may result in the premature failure of the transfer valve seals.

Hello, I had my plumber install this shower unit. I love the appearance. My one complaint is that when the hot and cold water are on, they are both in a vertical position, however, the hot is pointed up and the cold is pointed down. Is there any way to correct this problem so that they are both pointing in the same direction?

                      Thanks.

yes. You can change the directions that the handle moves in by just simply removing the adapter, turning it 90 degrees, and putting the adapter back in place.

                        A:

The reason for the handle opening backward is that the cartridge you have received is an interchangeable cartridge. You only need to reset the cartridge for that handle and it will work correctly. You will remove the handle, take a screwdriver and remove the spring clip from the cartridge. Lift up the tab from the cartridge and rotate it 90 degrees from the current position. Replace the spring clip and put the handle back onto the cartridge in the “off” position. Now, your handle will open correctly.
