Comments about American Standard Town Square Bath/Shower Trim Kits:

Extremely well made and classically different.

    Service and delivery comments:

I ordered this product for use in two bathrooms on 9/1/10. The parts I have received are extremely well-made and classically different from most bathroom fixtures. Unfortunately, after 11 weeks I still have not received the shower trim for the master bath and no one at American Standard seems able to tell me when I will receive it. Disappointing.

        A:

The plaster guard is only used for thin wall applications. If you are using tile and sheet rock you do not have to leave the plaster guard on.

We have had this kit in our new addition (Master Bedroom suite) shower for a little more than a year. Initially, the water from the shower was hot enough. But, n the past couple of months, we have noticed a decided drop off in temperature. Now, we put the valve to the hottest setting and the water is merely warm. In the same bathroom, the temperature of the water to the sink faucets is hotter. Someone suggested to us that this might reflect a problem with clogging of the anti-scald mechanism. Any thoughts? If it is that mechanism, can we easily unclog it? How? Thanks.

It could be an issue with the pressure balancing unit. If this is the case you will need to replace the part. These faucets have a lifetime warranty, and you can order the part from customer service at 1-800-442-1902.

The diverter is stuck on my shower. Both heads run at the same time. I was sent a replacement diverter but cannot remove the handle to get at it. What size is the hex key? is it metric? I've tried every SAE size that will go in the hole and can't get any to engage. The little hadle on the knob does not come off. The hole is behing the handle.

You will need to use a 3/32nd allan wrench to remove the screw. If it sticks you can use some WD-40 to loosen the handle.

I have just got the Shower trim kit installed by a plumber and the flow is ridiculusly low. It looks like there are flow restricter at the valve(little green piece of plastic) that reduces the flow enormously. Is there a way to change, modify those restricter ?
      Asked on 9/10/2011 by Anonymous

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

The flow restrictor is not recommended to be removed as this valve is designed to relaease 2.5 gallons of water per minute.

We have had the Town Square Bath/Shower Trim Kit for less than a year. Today, when I went to take a shower, the diverter would not stay up. Is there a simple solution or do we need a replacement? Thanks.

    • Q:

Hi - I have a town square bath/shower trim kit that I installed a few years ago. I need to replace the tub spout with built in diverter because my diverter is faulty. I have bought the town square replacement part, but when I tried to fit it, there was a problem.

I need it to connect by the whole spout turning to screw into the wall onto a pipe that is only sticking out from the wall by an inch or two. The incorrect part I have just bought is an identical spout made by american standard (M950315-0020A) that looks the same on the surface, but it fits onto a longer pipe (about 6 inches from the wall) then a small screw attaches it to the wall.
Can you give me the correct part number?
      Many thanks.

    • Q:

I"ve had this for about 3 years, and the diverter on the spout always let some water come out when I was taking a showing. Now I have to pull the diverter up at least five times before the water will consistently come out of the shower head. Then I have to play around with it some more to stop the squealing sound that results from the diverter's not staying in place. Is there a quick fix for this? I don't want to have to buy a new spout after a relatively short period of time but I also want to make sure that the shower is going to work. Thank you.
