Comments about American Standard Cadet 3 Right Height Flowise RF Toilet 10":

In the year after installation, the unit has worked flawlessly. I'm on a septic system and live in a remote area that can have severe weather. Occassionally the water pipes freeze and I have to carry water to flush. This 1.28gpf is much easier! Plus I did not like to run the 3+gpf my old toilet used through the septic system.

I would have given 5-stars but the Cadet 3 Right Height Flowise toilet was shipped with a defective flapper valve WHICH AMERICAN STANDARD KNEW ABOUT AND SHIPPED WITH ANYWAY. It immediately leaked and I called American Standard Customer Service. They shipped a replacement flapper valve free, but necessitated me having to call the plumber AGAIN to install ($$). The new flapper works perfectly.

I highly recommend this unit. (Hopefully, they are now supplying the correct flapper valve with the toilet.)

Is the toilet BOWL that goes with this tank model #3005.001? Is this the same bowl that goes with the 2657.016.020 toilet? If so, I was told that this model BOWL does not have the EverClean feature. Is that true? Thanks.

            A:

Bowl number 3005.001 goes with tank 4019.128 which make up the Cadet 3 Right Height flowise RF toilet 10". It does come with the Everclean finish. I am not able to pull up a 29657.016.020 number.

        • Q:

I had a Cadet 3 installed in July 2009. There was a problem initially with the toilet and the insides were replaced shortly within a week or two of installation. It worked fine until recently when it would seem to take a little longer to fill than normal and would end with a groaning sound. A few days ago, it wouldn't stop filling the tank once flushed. Water appeared to continue to fill the tank and overflowed continually down the open tube in the back of the tank. I have to turn the water off to the toilet now as the water just continues to run and run. The flapper appears to be tightly sealed and water does not leak out off the tank overnight while the water is shut off.

It sounds like you will need to replace the water control assembly. The part number is 7381125-400.0070A. This toilet has a 5 year warranty, so your toilet is still covered by the warranty. Please call customer service at 1-800-442-1902 to order the parts.

        • Q:

Most times when I flush the toilet, I have to take the tank top off to nudge the float valve down to get the refill valve to open and refill the tank. Otherwise it sits there. There are no obstructions, I've tried raising the water level a bit, no improvement. Thoughts?

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

There may be some debris in the water control valve itself. The installation instuctions should show you how to clean out any debris, worst case would be having to replace the entire water control valve.

When I flush the siphon action is clearing the floor drain trap in the basement. The toilet is 16 feet from the trap and 5 feet higher. I have checked and cleaned the vent stacks.

what is the model number of the compact version of cadet 3? does it come in a 10" rough in? got a real tight space and need the smallest diminsion toilet with 10" rough in....cadet 3 or any other American standard toilet. I have a champion 4 and love it but doesnt look like there is a 10" rough on that one.

            A:

The compact cadet 3 is a 12" rough-in, just has a elongated bowl that fits into the same space as a round front bowl. The Cadet 3 and the Colony Fit-Right are the only toilets available in a 10" rough-in.

After installation the toilet works fine and no leaks but the tank is a little wobbly. Is it normal for the bowl to move slightly?

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

No, the tank should not move, it sounds like it simply needs tightened down a little more. Alternate sides until the bottom of the tank just meet the top of the bowl. Just be careful not to overtighten.

We have a Cadet 3 that has a small (very small) leak at the tank to bowl gasket. China is touching china, and I'm afraid to tighten any more. It seems to me that the gasket is not compressed enough, almost as if the china is touching before the gasket can fully compress. Any tips?

If china is touching china in both the front and back of the tank, it is recommended that you contact us at 1-800-442-1902 options 1-4-2 and request a replacement coupling kit.
