      When I flush the toilet about 1/3 of the water in the tank remains when the flapper closes. Is this by design? If I hold down the handle until the tank empties, it produces a more complete flush. Was this done to conserve water for light flushes?

        A:

        It is normal with the new water conserving toilets to leave water in the tank because the flapper closed quicker. It will recycle through.

    • Q:

      I installed three of these toilets at my business. The trip levers on all the toilets get stuck in the down/flush position from time to time, causing the flapper to remain up in the tank and it cannot fill. I find the water running through the tank because of this, or customers complain because they cannot get the toilet to flush due to no water in the tank. When I inspect the lever, it seems to bind or catch where the metal rod is bent near the inside tank wall and the plastic nut that holds the lever in place. This only happens randomly. Should I replace the trip levers altogether, or is there another solution?

        If you have the 1.6 gpf version the flapper number is 738920-0070A. If you have the 1.28 version the flapper number is 7381026-400.0070A.
