Comments about American Standard Williamsburg One-Piece Elongated Toilet:

This has been in a halfbath for approximately 10 years and has stood up very well to occassional use. I'm a bit disappointed to hear finding a seat replacement may be difficult, but I'd expect the OEM product to be suitable and would go that route when the time comes. Currently, there is no issues with our 10 year old seat. This is a nice looking unit and has more style than alot of other products.

Comments about American Standard Williamsburg One-Piece Elongated Toilet:

Sold originally through [@], a division of [@]. Specially-shaped bowl loooks elegant, but requires a special seat and lid. Original is fiberboard, has a life expectancy... I will have to refinish it myself: strip paint off, soak with penetrating epoxy, surface with epoxy and microballoons, prime with sprayed epoxy, and finish with linear polyurethane... just like a yacht. Quite a job; I'd rather be able to buy a replacement.

Is there a way to just get the plastic toilet seat hinges?
Asked on 1/31/2012 by lynn from lancaster, va

        • A:

Lynn, we have the same unit, and nylon hinges are cracked but not yet failed. Since new seats aren't available and no replacement seems to fit, I'm intending to refinish our seat (much better than original) and convert to stainless hinges. They are available and are fairly universal, though the screw hole locations may differ. (TIP: If you simply instaqll the new hinges and drill new holes, fill the original holes with caulk seal them in order to to keep the wood fiber material dry. Also place some caulk into the new screwholes just before driving the new screws, for the same reason.)

(Also, for what it's worth, I'm intending to use typical marine products to refinish ours; epoxy and linear polyurethane. Result should last forever, or at least close enough. I really like the toilet and haven't seen one to replace it.)

We do not manufacture just hinges. You may want to check with Bemis or Church seats to see if they may have some. You may contact them at 1-800-558-7651 or visit their website at www.bemismfg.com. Also, you may try their partner company, Church Seats, at www.churchseats.com or 1-800-233-7328.

Have williamsburg model 2038 toilet with very weak flushing, often just swirls in bowl without good flush, waste piping okay and not clogged, vent okay also, about 8 yrs old. Just doesn't seem to ever flush with any force. Any suggestions?

          A:

Please verify the water level in the tank is set at the proper level. Also, ensure the refill tube from the water control is inserted into the overflow. It is also important to ensure the flapper chains has been properly adjusted. Lastly, ensure your sewer vents are clear and properly functioning.

A replacement seal is not offered for this toilet. The entire flush valve must be purchased. The new flush valve will come with a tool to aid in the removal of the flush valve.

      • Q:

I have an american standard toilet which was purchased 5 or more years ago. It may or may not be what I see in this photo above. Anyway the question is how can I acquire just the low top tank? I have a shelf of misc product over which fell down on top of the toilet and broke the tank not the bowl or lid to the tank for that matter It cracked the tank necessitating a replacement. Just trying to find a tank to replace without replacing the entire toilet.

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

We would need to know the model number of your toilet tank to verify that this is the correct toilet. To find the model number of the toilet, look into the tank along the back wall. Impressed, engraved or stamped into the china will be a four-digit number starting with a “2” or “4”. If you have a one piece toilet will begin with the number “2” and will be 4 digits long. If you have a two piece toilet your model number will begin with the number “4” and will be 4 digits long. Manufacturing date is located inside the tank.
