        I recently used my tub (Lifetime Oval #2645L) for the first time. I did everything correctly and the tub worked. However, when the tub is plugged in, the unit is instantly on and stays on until the electrical cored is unplugged. The pump / air actuator switch does not turn the unit off. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

          A:

          There is a small air black tube that connects the air actuator button on the deck of your whirlpool to the air switch that is mounted in back of the pump. It may have been pulled off or loosened during installation. When you push the air actuator button a puff of air goes through the tube into the air switch in back of the motor and turns the motor on or off. It is also possible that it was pulled off all together and will be missing. The air itself that is pushed through the tube can also after time push the tube off of one end or the other if it has been loosened. Look under the air actuator for a small black rubber tube that is a little smaller than the diameter of a pencil. It simply slides over a nipple in the center of the bottom of the air actuator button. The other end slides over a nipple on a ¾” diameter stud that will be sticking out of the side of the electrical junction box that is mounted to the top of the motor. There are no connectors. It is held on with friction. Check to see that both ends are pushed on tight. If it still doesn’t operate check their power by plugging in an electrical device and running it. If that fails please call our Whirlpool Hotline at 1-800-442-1902 options 1-1-1 so we can assist you.

        My tub (Lifetime Oval # 2645L) was installed by the builder and I noticed that the base of the tub is not resting on the floor or any supports. It seems solid and able to support weight, but the only thing holding it up is where the sides of the tub rest on the wooden base constisting of 2 X 4 and ply wood. Is this right? Should I have this re-installed with the bottom of the tub resting on a base?

          Yes, you should fill the tub to 2" above the highest whirlpool jet. This will ensure that the pump has enough water to operate, and that the jets don't shoot water out of the tub.
