PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 6, 2012) — American Standard introduces a dual flush, hands-free toilet flush valve that automatically adjusts water volume usage, conserving 27.5 percent (0.44 gallons) of water when compared to a standard 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf) toilet. This is an additional 7.5 percent water savings over 1.28 gpf high efficiency toilets (HET).
The Selectronic® dual flush toilet valve delivers a light flush of 1.1 gpf when the user is in front of the flush valve for less than 60 seconds, assuming liquid waste. Otherwise, a 1.28 gpf volume is used for a fuller flush to accommodate solid waste.
High Efficiency Performance
When installed on the American Standard® Madera™, Afwall® or Priolo® universal commercial toilets, this automatic dual flush valve will deliver a powerful flush with both 1.1 and 1.28 gpf. These dual flush valves systems have been independently rated to flush 800 grams and 1,000 grams, respectively, of solid waste in the Maximum Performance (MaP) test, an independent report of toilet bulk removal performance, while also attaining the maximum drain line carry.
Hassle-Free Automatic Flushing
The American Standard exclusive Selectronic proximity system is the hands-free commercial plumbing system that delivers on the promise, not the hassle, of touchless technology. Selectronic technology was developed to provide superior performance and flexibility, while reducing maintenance time and replacement part inventory costs. The same watertight miniature sensor works for all Selectronic faucets and flush valves made by American Standard. The Selectronic sensor’s range is preset at the factory and can be adjusted either manually or via remote control above deck with just the touch of a button.
The Selectronic 1.1 / 1.28 gpf dual flush valve is loaded with the following features, while being engineered for accurate and reliable performance in any environment:
• Hygienic, hands-free operation
• Self-cleaning piston with integral wiper spring that helps prevent clogging and reduces maintenance
• Fully mechanical manual override to allow the valve to flush without power
• Fail-safe operation that causes the valve to close automatically, and stay closed, upon loss of power or water pressure
• Leak-free operation that eliminate rubber diaphragms which can crack and warp
• Flexible installation options for new construction and retrofit
