Operation Simplified with New Options for American Standard Commercial Flush Valves and Lavatory Faucets
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 12, 2012) — American Standard has added convenient features to its exclusive Selectronic proximity system — the hygienic, hands-free universal sensor design that specifiers have leveraged in thousands of commercial flush valve and faucet applications — with new exposed flush valve power options as well as lavatory faucets with integrated electronic controls.
Exposed Hard-Wired AC Flush Valves
A new UL-approved hard-wired AC transformer allows the American Standard line of high efficiency flush valves to run on reliable AC power, eliminating the need to change batteries. The exposed flush valve design makes them easier to install and maintain than concealed flush valves, a big plus for commercial maintenance personnel.
This new hard-wired configuration is also available with a multi-AC power option, allowing specifiers to daisy-chain up to 15 faucets and/or flush-valves off a single UL-approved transformer.
All power options leverage the same watertight miniature sensor found in the full range of hands-free Selectronic high efficiency toilet (HET), high efficiency urinal (HEU), and dual-flush valves, seamlessly integrating both sensor and solenoid for a sleek, modern design. The Selectronic sensor’s range is pre-set at the factory and can be adjusted either manually or via remote control with the touch of a button.
American Standard flush valves are loaded with features for easy maintenance and engineered for accurate and reliable performance in any environment, including:
- Hygienic, hands-free operation;
- Self-cleaning piston with integral wiper spring prevents clogging and delivers superior performance;
- Positive seal provides leak-free operation;
- Fully mechanical manual override to allow the valve to flush without power;
- Fail-safe operation that causes the valve to close automatically, and stay closed upon loss of power or water pressure;
- Chemical resistant EPDM seals are unaffected by chloramines and other chemicals;
- Best selection of high efficiency options.
Selectronic Integrated Lavatory Faucet with Optional Above-Deck Mixing
A new Selectronic hands-free integrated commercial lavatory faucet is available from American Standard, offering simplified installation by seamlessly combining the sensor and all electronics in the spout, so that no control box is required below deck. This sleekly styled faucet is available with an optional above-deck mixing handle to allow users to easily control water temperature.
For added convenience, this sensor-operated faucet is available with three power options: DC (battery) and two UL-approved AC power supplies (plug-in and hard-wired). Plus, the multi-AC option allows the installer to daisy-chain up to 15 faucets and/or flush valves off a single UL-approved transformer.
This new Selectronic faucet employs a leak-free ceramic disc valve to accurately control the hot and coldwater mixing. Plus, it features a durable, seamless brass spout that can withstand the rigors of high-use commercial installations.
Two vandal-resistant flow outlets are available: a 0.5 gallons per minute (gpm) non-aerated spray or a 1.5 gpm non-aerated, laminar flow option that includes an adjustable spray face to direct water flow. A hot limit safety stop — an essential feature for applications with small children, older adults, or anyone with physical disabilities — is factory-set (to 85 percent of total) and can be adjusted on-site (up to 95 percent of total).
